highly advanced FAIC-M to the philippine navy by 2022.
Philippine navy vice admiral PN Giovanni Carlo Bacordo has confirmed that the
service will receive three fast attack
interdictor craft faicm missile ships
next year from israel. the philippines
should be proud of the input of advanced
warships to the country. The three ships are the first of eight FAIC-Ms being built by israel shipyards. So the Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported that the deal was said to be
worth around 503 million dollars php
10bn, a fantastic value.
The confirmation came after the israeli
shipyard said it had won a contract to
supply the Schaldag Mark V fast patrol
boat to an undisclosed asian country, hence not being shown on state
television. But Korda was quoted by pna as saying
faicm will be deployed initially in aor
mindanao area of responsibility where
there are ongoing operations against LTG (Local Terrorist Group and CTG (Communist Terrorist Group).
This platform is best suited to operate
in this environment to act as an
effective deterrent not only against
terrorist groups, but also against other
lawless elements operating in coastal
areas. These advanced warships FAIC-M's are
expected to replace the medium Patrol Killer Medium (PKM) or medium patrol
vessels operating with the service. Four of these state-of-the-art FAIC-M's
will be armed with Non-Line Of Sight (NLOS) missiles with pinpoint accuracy and
a range of 25 kilometers.
The remaining four will be armed with
machine guns and light automatic cannons. The Cordo said all documents related to
the FAIC-M procurement project were
signed earlier this year. The faic project contract was signed
last february this year while the notice
to proceed was signed by minister of
national defense Delfin Lorenzana SND last month.
This project consists of two lots. Lot one focuses on the acquisition of
naval platforms and the upgrade of the
cavita naval shipyard while lot 2
involves the acquisition of these FAIC-M's weapon systems which include remote
controlled weapons and missile systems. The philippine navy will receive the
highly advanced FAIC-M ship next year.
