Ukrainian authorities found the bodies of five civilians with their hands tied in a village west of Kyiv, including the bodies of the mayor of Motyzhyn, her husband and son.
Police showed four bodies to AFP reporters, including the half-buried body of the mayor of Motyzhyn in a pine forest graveyard near his home in Motyzhyn City.
While the body of the fifth was found in a small well in a park. The dead included two men who were not part of the mayor's family, their hands tied behind their backs.
Motyzhyn Mayor Olga Sukhenko, 50, her husband, and their son were kidnapped by Russian forces on March 24, local police said. According to residents, the mayor and her husband refused to cooperate with the Russian invading forces.
Earlier on March 11, the mayor of Melitopol in southern Ukraine was kidnapped by Russian troops but released after a few days.
In Bucha, a town some 30 kilometers north of Motyzhyn, the bodies of civilians were found strewn on the streets and in mass graves sparking accusations of war crimes.
