Upon endorsement by speaker lord alan
velasco the committee tasked to amend
the 2022 general appropriations bill has
realigned p 5.5 billion budget to the
afp for down payment on the cargo planes. The philippine air force has been using
its C-130s non-stop to transport
personal protective equipment and other
medical supplies to support the
government's response to the coronavirus
pandemic. The philippine air force 222nd airlift
squadron which is under the command of
the 220th airlift wing, currently fields
4C130s, 2C130ts, 1C130B and 1C130H all of which operate from Cebu. The C-130 is expected to be retired in
the near future.
The 222nd airlift squadron will acquire
two more lockheed C-130 hercules cargo
aircraft to add to its existing fleet of
fight used to transport medical supplies
and personnel tests to contain the
coronavirus disease covid19 pandemic. The Lockheed Martin C-130J super
hercules is a four-engine turboprop
military transport aircraft. The C-130J is the newest version of the C-130 hercules and the only model in
production.
Current operators of the C-130J are the
usaf including the air force reserve
command and the air national guard, united states marine corps, being their
fourth variant after KC-130f, KC-130r in KC-130t, 23 united states
coast guard royal air force, indian air
force, royal canadian air force, royal
australian air force, royal danish air
force, royal norwegian air force, israeli
air force and the italian air force.
By 2021, 450 had been delivered with 26
operators in 22 countries. Externally similar to the classic
hercules in general appearance, the J model features considerably updated
technology. These differences include new Rolls-Royce AE-2100 D-3 turboprop engines
with dowdy are 391 composite scimitar
propellers, digital avionics including
head-up displays for each pilot and
reduced crew requirements.
These changes have improved performance
over its C-130 divided by H Predecessors such as forty percent
greater range, twenty one percent higher
maximum speed and 41 shorter takeoff
distance. The J model is available in a standard
length or stretched minus 30 variant. U.S Air Force selects collins aerospace
for C-130J super hercules wheels and
brakes.
Collins aerospace announced it has been
selected by the u.s air force and Lockheed Martin to provide boltless
wheels and carbon brakes for 60 C-130J super hercules aircraft in production
for the u.s air force. Collins equipment replaces the
platform's legacy steel brakes helping
the air force reduce maintenance time
and costs while increasing aircraft
availability.
Collins is a leading provider of wheels
and brakes for military platforms
including the us air force's F-15, F-16, C-5, C-130 and global hawk fleets. Collins troy facility supplies wheels
and carbon brakes for several lockheed
martin platforms including the F-16
fighting falcon, U-2 Dragon Lady and LM-100J. The commercial freighter derivative of
the C-130J military airlifter.
Earlier this year the company was
selected by the us air force to design
and develop a new wheel and carbon brake
for the B-52. Collins has also completed wheel and
brake upgrades for several air forces
around the globe. our equipment will simplify aircraft
maintenance and increased safety
ultimately helping our war fighters
execute their missions with increased
efficiency and success, said Matt Maurer
general manager military landing systems
for collins aerospace.
This selection builds on our
long-standing relationships with the u.s
air force and Lockheed Martin as a
premier wheel and brake supplier with a
proven record of performance. Collins C-130 brakes which feature its
duracarb registered carbon heat sink
material can allow for up to 2000
landings per overhaul compared to 250
landings per overhaul experienced by
operators of the C-130s current system. That lifespan is eight times longer
significantly reducing maintenance time
and cost.
At the same time collins brakes are
capable of handling higher energy than
the aircraft's existing equipment which
increases the safety margin when
stopping heavily loaded C-130s. Collins will manufacture the new C-130j
wheels and brakes at its facility here
which has been named an elite supplier
by Lockheed Martin aeronautics for five
consecutive years.
Elite suppliers are recognized for
averaging 99 percent on time deliveries
and zero quality defects throughout the
year and represent the top one percent
of Lockheed Martin aeronautics suppliers. Collins aerospace a raytheon
technologies corporation business is a
leader in technologically advanced and
intelligent solutions for the global
aerospace and defense industry. Collins aerospace has the extensive
capabilities, comprehensive portfolio and
broad expertise to solve customers
toughest challenges and to meet the
demands of a rapidly evolving global
market.
