As
reported ukrainian soldier has been
attacking russian-backed separatists in
the region with its new anti-tank
missile, Stugna Peak.
Ukrainian new anti-tank missile gets
direct hit on pro-russian rebels. Ukrainian soldiers targeted a military
truck that had been carrying
russian-backed separatists.
The story was first reported by
ukrainian news site military which cited
volunteer Alexander Karpyuk, who said
that the ukrainian-made anti-tank
missile direct hit an enemy target 3.4
miles or 5.6 kilometers away. Volunteer
also shares dramatic video showing the
moment of attack on the enemy military
truck.
Javelins are not the only ones, meet Stugna-P Ukrainian Anti-Tank Missile System. In the video two objects are worth
noting Stugna-P and the euro truck, says Oleksandr Carp to the video. According to the volunteer the distance
between the anti-tank complex and the
trunk of was 3.4 miles 5,600 meters.
Ukrainian Stugna-P also known as skifan
export modification is a modern
anti-tank missile system developed by
kiev base luke's design bureau to
destroy manpower and stationary and
mobile modern armored targets with
combined, carried or monolithic armor
including ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) and also pinpoint targets like weapon
emplacements, lightly armored objects and
hovered helicopters at any time of day
or night.
The laser guided system has a range of 5,800 meters and can penetrate armor up to
1,100 millimeters thickness.
Russia reportedly has deployed three
tank regiments near the border with
ukraine. Russian media reported that the
move aims is to prevent the Ukrainian
army from launching new attacks against
pro-russian rebels and to protect
russian citizens in danvis.
The report
from the russian media noted that the
total number of russian tanks on the
border with Belarus and Ukraine has
doubled in the previous estimate, taking
into account three tank regiments alone, which can reach 180 units. In fact this is almost a third of all
tanks in service with the russian armed
forces.
Fighting in breakaway eastern regions of Ukraine has escalated in recent months
with kiev and moscow accusing each other
of violating the ceasefire agreement. For
the past three weeks the conflict has
escalated dangerously after russia sent
more than 90,000 troops to the ukrainian
border, a move causing alarm bells to
ring in Kiev and the NATO Alliance.
Ukraine warned of an imminent invasion, the second such warning this year after
a similar build-up took place in april
2021. For its part Russia has accused NATO of
arming ukraine in violation of a
ceasefire deal meant to stop the
seven-year conflict in eastern ukraine.
Russia also appears to be responding to
attacks, including a strike by a drone
sold to ukraine by nato member turkey
against pro-russian separatists in the
donbas region of Ukraine.
Russia also accuses Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinsky of making the conflict
worsen by pushing to become a NATO member and despite his campaign pledges
to seek an end to the conflict in
eastern Ukraine. Zielinski has openly
vowed to retake crimea which russia
illegally annexed in 2014 and the
breakaway eastern regions.
Zielenski is
also accused of disregarding terms laid
out in the ceasefire deal struck in 2015, the so-called minced two agreement that
stipulated allowing donbass to gain
political autonomy.
According to The Washington Post more
than 14,000 people have been killed in
the dondas conflict and about 1.5
million people have been displaced.
Diplomats from the United States and
russia are currently holding meetings in Geneva to find a way to end the conflict
in eastern Ukraine and to solve Nato-Russia tension as well discussing
russian military build-up along the
ukrainian border.
As reported by VOA News, diplomats from
the united states and russia held dale
on talks monday in Geneva about moscow's
massive troop build up along its Ukraine
border and Russian demands for western
security guarantees.
A U.S state department spokesperson said
the meeting, the first of several this
week began just before 9 a.m local time
and ended in the late afternoon. There were no immediate details
available about the outcome of the talks, although both U.S and Russian officials
expressed little optimism ahead of time
about the prospects for immediate
resolution of disputes between the two
superpowers.
The state department stressed that the U.S side has been working in
consultation with not only ukraine, but
also with NATO and other allies across
europe in preparing for the talks.
"The united states is committed to the
principle of nothing about you, without
you when it comes to the security of our
european allies and partners, including Ukraine," spokesperson said in a statement.
"We are lashed up at every level with our
allies and partners and we will continue
to be in the days and weeks ahead, he added.
After the Geneva talks russia is due to
hold negotiations with nato in brussels
on wednesday and at the organization for
security and cooperation in europe on
thursday in Vienna.
On sunday ahead of the geneva meeting
u.s secretary of state Anthony Blinken
told cnn state of the union show it's
hard to see we're going to make any
progress with a gun to ukraine's head. We're going to listen to russia's
concerns about nato military exercises
in central and eastern Europe. Lincoln
said that added you're going to have to
listen to ours about the 100,000 troops
russia has amassed along ukraine's
eastern flank.
Lincoln also reiterated the us threat to
impose severe economic sanctions against Moscow, in the event it invades Ukraine
eight years after its annexation of
ukraine's Crimean Peninsula, our strong
preference is a diplomatic solution but
that's up to russia, Lincoln said at the
time.
