Since Japan lost in World War II, the Land of the Rising Sun has in fact not lost the spirit of Bushido. The Japanese Empire was the only one who lost the war, but the military characteristics were still maintained by building a strong navy by making warships such as destroyers and frigates.
However, until now Japan is prohibited from committing aggression to other countries. The political authority of the Emperor of Japan was also stripped away, he was only a unifying symbol for his people.
The prohibition of Japan from carrying out attacks on other countries is similar to what they applied to the Defenders of the Homeland Unit (PETA) in the Dutch East Indies.
This prohibition was issued by the United States (US) as one of the articles after the Japanese empire lost the war.
Then the US initiated the disbandment of the Imperial army and formed a Japanese self-defense force where the deployment could only be carried out by the Prime Minister. But the presence of China's new power threatens the existence of Japan in East Asia.
The conflict grew and could lead to war. So the Japanese self-defense force made a destroyer or rather the helicopter carrier JS Izumo to fight China.
According from Naval Technology, JS Izumo was indeed deployed in the Free And Open Indo Pacific operation announced by the US.
He along with USS Carl Vinson and HMS Queen Elizabeth then formed a Task Force to suppress China. And there was an incident that was not actually predicted by the Japanese Navy.
According to news.usni.org, on December 25, 2021, Japan ordered JS Izumo to patrol the Miyako Strait. Unexpectedly there, JS Izumo found a Liaoning combat group belonging to the Chinese PLA Navy.
. Apparently since the last 20 days Liaoning has been sailing in the Yellow Sea to the East China Sea and through the Miyako Strait.
Various exercises such as the flight of J-15 fighter jets and Z-9 helicopters were carried out by the PLA Navy combat group.
"The Liaoning carrier group then continued its voyage to the Western Pacific where training was conducted on the group's combat capabilities, including air and anti-submarine warfare training, command and control operations, replenishment exercises and force coordination," reported USNI News.
The Liaoning was escorted by the destroyers Nanchang, Xiamen and the frigate Rizhao on its voyage. Not wanting to lose, JS Izumo bluffed and then grabbed Liaoning who was launching a J-15 fighter jet from his deck.
The situation got hotter when the frigate Rizhao took a position behind the JS Izumo. Izumo reasoned that they should overshadow Liaoning as it headed towards Okinawa. To support the operation, the Japanese then ordered the destroyer Akizuki to provide escorts to JS Izumo.
Not enough, Japan ordered P-3 Orion maritime reconnaissance aircraft from Fleet Air Wing 1 at Naval Air Facility Atsugi and Fleet Air Wing 5 at Naha Air Base in Okinawa to monitor from the air.
The Japanese P-3 Orion also carried a torpedo as a precaution in case the Liaoning misbehaved. Liaoning continues to be overshadowed by JS Izumo until it leaves the Miyako Strait to the Pacific Ocean
Unfortunately, thousands of dears, the F-35 Naval Version for the JS Izumo didn't exist at that time, if it was already on the deck, it would be a different story. Japan itself will continue to carry out patrols to tighten security in the Miyako Strait from Chinese threats
