It is feared that the management of arable land in the Metaverse world could become a bone of contention. But can it happen?
Metaverse expert from Indonesia Digital Millenial Cooperatives (IDM Co-op), MC Basyar explained how land works in the Metaverse world, which does not allow for conflicts between users.
He explained that in the virtual world of Metaverse there is no term 'dispute' on land or unilateral claims from other users.
Getting to know AR and VR, a stepping stone to understanding the concept of the metaverse
Basyar explained that land in the Metaverse world is secured in the form of digital assets or Non-fungible tokens (NFT) based on smart contracts on the blockchain that are recorded to be owned by only one user.
"When asked about the issue of the NFT certificate, it already includes a certificate because there is a smart contract named, that when we scan it, we just look for it on the blockchain network, Ethereum, Bitcoin or others," Basyar said to CNNIndonesia.com via telephone, Friday (7/1) .
Then Basyar also explained that digital assets in the new world are already embedded in blockchain technology and have universal intellectual property rights.
So that every user can find out where the NFT land was created, who has access to it, and can distinguish the digital asset from others.
"Let's say he is on the Ethereum network. Yes, you have to go to Google, look for the Ethereum smart contract scan from the land in the metaverse, just paste it, and the results come out," said Basyar.
Different from the real world
Basyar also explained that the land in the Metaverse is completely in a different world so it doesn't affect the land in the real world even though it has the same name.
He said there is nothing to worry about if a map of the real world is turned into a digital asset in the Metaverse and then sold.
Basyar said that this would not threaten the existence of a region, because the sale of regional maps in digital assets is only the imagination of developers or developers who want to make areas like real maps like in real life.
"Just like for example, I created a Facebook account with the name DI Yogyakarta. Does that threaten DIY's existence, doesn't it. The only difference is that Metaverse is made like real life," he said.
Metaverse Development
Basyar further discussed the increasing use of Metaverse globally. Several countries such as the United States, Russia, Korea and various countries in Europe already have land in the Metaverse as future assets.
For example, Basyar said one of the UK's largest auction houses had purchased land on the Metaverse Decentraland platform. In addition, well-known fashion brands such as Nike have also purchased land in Metaverse, to promote in the virtual world.
The new world of Metaverse is predicted to continue to grow along with technological innovation, and of course the increase in users.
For example on game platforms that allow users to interact more realistically with other players thanks to the help of virtual reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) devices, and a number of other devices.
