The turrets are slated to be integrated
on the vehicles in 2021 with training
and logistics support services to be
completed by december that year. The philippine armed forces favored the
one-man turrets of different caliber
armaments over other products produced
by global defense industry giants due to
its cost-effectiveness and superior
technical features. Within the modernization program of the Philippine Army the main goal of this
project is to upgrade the firepower of
existing tracked armored vehicles. In this scope one-man turrets which were
previously produced and put into service
in other countries will be produced with
a state of art fire control capability
and site systems day slash night.
The turrets will be manufactured at FNSS facilities will then be integrated into
tracked armored vehicles by FNSS in the
philippines and delivered to the user. The acceptance tests will take place
both in turkey and the philippines and
the training for the turrets will be
held in philippines under the integrated
logistics support services activities. Sabre is a medium caliber one-man power
operated turret that can be integrated
on wheeled and tracked armored vehicles. Saber Turret incorporates the latest
technologies in turret drives, fire
control protection and lethality.Iits compact dimensions and lightweight
makes sabre a suitable choice for
different types of armored vehicles.
The Turret can be configured with three
types of main armament based on user
requirements and two forty two twenty
five millimeters dual feed automatic
cannon, forty millimeters Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) and a 12.7
millimeters machine gun. a 7.62 millimeters coaxial machine gun
is also available with all these
configurations. The turret drive system is electrical
with two axis stabilization capability
to ensure a high accuracy of fire on the
move. Under the contract signed between fnss
and the Department of National Defense (DND) Philippines which entered into force
in november FNSS will provide a number
of amphibious armored combat earth mover vehicles and their logistics
support services. It is planned that the vehicles will be
delivered and the training and logistics
support services will be completed by
the end of march 2023.
Within the modernization program of the
philippine army the main goal of this
project is to increase the combat
engineering capabilities of the combat
engineer battalion units and to carry
these capabilities to further stages
with the ability of the amphibious
vehicles. In this scope the subsystems and mission
equipment used in the vehicle has been
evaluated and determined according to
today's technological developments in
line with this program. Vehicles will be manufactured at FNSS facilities will then be delivered to the
user by FNSS in the philippines army.
The acceptance tests will take place
both in turkey and the philippines and
the training for the vehicles will be
held in philippines under the integrated
logistics support services activities. AACE which is the first and only combat
engineering dozer vehicle with
amphibious capability in the world has
proven itself successfully in the
inventory of turkish armed forces and
has been exported abroad for the first
time with this reference. FNSS is aiming to keep serving the
philippine army with this project. Also AACE will be the second project
after the fnss one-man turret project
under the defense industry cooperation
agreement signed between turkish and the
philippine governments.
Turkish defense company FNSS defense
systems confirmed that it has signed a
contract with the philippine government
for the supply and delivery of one-man
turrets for integration and installation
on armored vehicles and kunda's
amphibious armored combat earth
propulsion aace for the Philippine Army (PA). According to fnss the contract for
one-man turrets was signed in august
2020 under the turkey philippine defense
industry cooperation agreement and
involves the supply and installation of
a number of advanced turrets for armored
vehicles.
The turret is expected to be fully
integrated into the pa armored vehicle
by october 2021 and training and
logistics support to be completed by
december 2021. While information is limited philippine
defense website philippine defense
resource reports that the project
involves the supply of the bae system
sharpshooter manned turret which was
built under license by fnss and is
similar to that delivered by fnss to
malaysia several years ago. The turret is said to be mounted on
several acv 300 pa armored personnel
carriers which FNSS delivered to the pa
in 2010.
This will allow the conversion of the
vehicle to an infantry fighting vehicle
ifv on a daily basis, night skills. FNSS also confirmed that another
contract was signed with the philippines
department of national defense in
november 2020 which involved the supply
and delivery of the FNSS Kundas AACE. The vehicle will be built at the FNSS facility in turkey and is expected to be
fully delivered by march 2023 with
acceptance tests to be carried out in
turkey and the philippines.
The Kundas aace is the only amphibious
armored combat ground mover on the
market and will enhance the PA's combat
engineering capabilities. Philippine defense resources confirmed
that at least six vehicles are being
monitored by the pa for acquiring new
combat engineering equipment as part of
its modernization program.
