Again, Philippines Get 2 Guns CIWS GDM 008 from Switzerland and GOKDENIZ from Turkey

The philippine navy's selection of future Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) has shown preference on the use of gun based systems with air burst munitions. Rather than sheer volume of rounds to stop incoming anti-ship missiles.

Based on information we received from our reliable sources, The philippine navy has shortlisted its selection of ciws to two systems. The rhine middle airline millennium GDM-008 from switzerland and the aselson dictannas from turkey.

Both systems use 35 millimeters munitions with air burst munitions against aircraft and missiles and high explosive incendiary, high rounds which can be used against other ships or surface targets.

Big Dennis has an advantage of having twin guns and its own fire control system while millennium has a single gun and will have to rely on external fire control systems.

The millennium GDM-008 is currently in service with the danish Indonesian and Venezuelan navies while the gedenas is currently operated by the turkmenistan navy and will enter service with the turkish naval force and pakistan navy aboard turkish maidship soon.

The philippine navy intends to acquire the ciws first for the two Jose Rizal class frigates and will be made standard on the two new corvettes. Both the tarlac class and upcoming new landing platform docks will also have the CIWS but will depend on availability of funds
