Tactical Missile Corporation – Unites the 'Power' of the Russian Guided Weapons and Missile Industry

The development of various missile technologies clearly cannot be separated from Russia's existence. Names such as Vympel NPO, NPO Mashinostroyeniya and MKB Raduga, are so embedded in the minds of world arms observers, where Russia currently has the status of the second largest arms exporter.

And when the Ukrainian war broke out, the existence of Russian-made missiles, including those designed from the Soviet era, became frequently discussed by world citizens. The public has become so 'familiar' with the names of the Kh-31P air-to-surface missile, Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic ballistic missile, Kh-59MKM cruise missile and many others.

And when talking about the capabilities of these precision weapons, it will be related to Russian technological achievements. Inheriting technological superiority from the era of the Soviet Union, Russia currently has more than 40 companies engaged in the production and design of missiles and guided weapons.

Well, did you know that in Russia a group of companies related to the missile industry are united in one large holding company called JSC Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV).

From its history, on January 24, 2002, during the first administration of President Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on the creation of the “Tactical Missiles Corporation” on the basis of Zvezda-Strela, which now unites more than forty developers and manufacturers of high-precision weapons.

Headquartered in Korolyov, Moscow Oblast, the Tactical Missiles Corporation (TMC) is said to be an active participant in military and technical cooperation with foreign nations.

An article from Russian Aviation & Military Guide (RAMG) magazine, stated that many of the companies now part of TMC have a long history of dealings with foreign customers in the field of military technical cooperation.

As it turns out, in the mid-50s, students from China studying at the Moscow Aviation Institute underwent practical training at the Corporation's main company located in Kaliningrad (now Korolev) near Moscow. In turn, several specialists from the company went to China to provide technical assistance in mastering the RS-2U air-to-air missile.

The model of cooperation above, later became a pilot 'model' in the development and marketing of Soviet precision weapons products, and today's Russia.
