Kyiv. Entering the 11th day, the Russian military invasion of Ukraine has not shown any signs of stopping. In the midst of limitations, Ukraine is able to provide heavy resistance to the Russian military. In fact, Ukraine managed to get a secret document about Russia's attack strategy.
Ukraine's Defense Ministry said its armed forces had seized a secret battle plan left behind by the Russian army. Documents uploaded to Facebook by Ukraine's defense ministry claim to show Russia's planned attack on Ukraine that will last 15 days.
The classified documents show the war plans of one of the units of the tactical group battalion of the 810th Separate Guards Naval Infantry Brigade of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, according to the country's ministry.
It further said that the Russian invasion map, call sign table, and personnel list were in the documents.
"Thanks to the successful actions of one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia has not only lost equipment and troops," the defense ministry said.
"In a panic attack, they leave behind a secret document."
The ministry said that based on documents, Russia approved an invasion of Ukraine on January 18. The operation was intended to last 15 days from February 20 to March 6, the ministry said based on a review of documents.
The insider who published this story was unable to independently verify this conclusion. One of the documents uploaded appears to be dated January 18, a full month before Russia attacked.
Meanwhile another call sign planning document for different units dated February 20 to March 6, with daily codename changes for different instructions from Russia, to contact each other without revealing their identities.
The documents do not appear to provide any information about Russian troops taking any Ukrainian cities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his country's invasion of Ukraine in the early hours of Thursday (2/24/2022).
The extent of Putin's plans to attack Ukraine is unclear, but a former Russian deputy foreign minister told Al Jazeera he has information that the Russian leader wants to declare victory within a week.
That goal now seems highly unlikely, with Russian forces capturing just one major Ukrainian city after six days of fighting. Ukraine's Defense Ministry said the "ultimate aim" by Russian forces in possession of this planning document "is to block and capture" the city of Melitopol in southeastern Ukraine.
"That's why you shouldn't believe it when a prisoner of war says he came to a drill and got lost! They know, they planned properly and they have prepared," the ministry said on Facebook.
He added, "Our response to Russia is as follows: Keep your vehicle and its classified documents behind, it will be of use to our defenders and The Hague."
