Ukraine will have to withstand Russian attacks for the next seven to 10 days to deny Moscow any claim of victory, a senior Ukrainian government official said Wednesday.
Vadym Denysenko, Advisor to Ukraine's Interior Minister, said Russia desperately wanted at least some sort of victory, citing the city of Mariupol or the capital Kyiv as the most likely target.
"They need at least a few wins before they are forced into final negotiations," Denysenko wrote on Facebook. "Therefore, our task is to stand for the next 7-10 days".

Russia said it would provide a humanitarian corridor on Wednesday (9/3) for people wanting to get out of Kyiv and four other Ukrainian cities.
The only operational corridor is from the city of Sumy, which opened Tuesday, and is the first successful mass evacuation since Russia said it would halt attacks.
About 5,000 people boarded the bus from the Northeastern Ukrainian city on Tuesday after Moscow and Kyiv agreed to the corridor, Sumy Governor Dmytro Zhyvytskyy revealed, as reported by Reuters.
About 1,000 cars could also exit Sumy, moving towards Poltava City, Zhyvytskyy said, adding that the corridor would continue to function on Wednesday (9/3).
Only, Zhyvytskyy said, the residential area of Sumy was bombed overnight, with one bomb killing 22 civilians. He called the incident a "mass murder".
Russia denies targeting civilians. Reuters could not verify the Sumy incident.
