British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said on Tuesday that Britain would support Poland if it decided to provide Ukraine with fighter jets, but warned that doing so could have direct consequences for Poland.
"I will support Poland and whatever choice they make," Wallace told Sky News, adding that Britain could not offer Ukraine a plane that could be used.
"We will protect Poland, we will help them with whatever they need. Poland will understand that the choices they make will not only directly help Ukraine, which is a good thing, but can also bring them to a direct relationship, a line of fire from countries like Russia or Belarus," he said.
Britain has provided Ukraine with defense weapons as well as other military and humanitarian assistance.
Wallace said he would make a statement to parliament on Wednesday outlining what lethal and non-lethal aid the UK would provide, as well as what steps the UK government would urge other countries to take.
