Warm up! British Foreign Minister Liz Truss Expels Russian Ambassador

Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin was kicked out of the British Foreign Office after a 'hot' meeting with Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, today, Sunday, February 27, 2022. The Russian envoy was previously summoned by Foreign Minister Truss to speak with him after Vladimir Putin's repeated threats to attack Ukraine.

But a Foreign Office source said the meeting was 'hot', and the envoy reportedly left Whitehall after nearly ten minutes.

The summons of the Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom follows Prime Minister Boris Johnson's statement condemning Russia for launching its invasion of Ukraine, without provocation or credible reason. Moscow troops attacked Ukraine by land, sea and air.

"He said he should be ashamed of himself, that Russia has lied time and time again and lost its recent credibility with the international community," Foreign Minister Truss said.

Reported by Mirror.uk Truss told the Russian ambassador that Moscow caused a long and protracted conflict at great cost.

A Foreign Office spokesman said the Foreign Minister said the Russian government had repeatedly lied, saying it had no plans to attack Ukraine, and this unwarranted aggression had earned it international condemnation.

"He condemns Russia's outrageous attack on Ukraine as a clear violation of international law," a foreign ministry spokesman said. Foreign Minister Truss gave an ultimatum that there would be severe sanctions in retaliation for the invasion, which would inflict pain on the Russian economy and anyone closely linked to the Kremlin.

"Russia expects a long and protracted conflict that will inflict enormous humanitarian, economic and political casualties on the Russian government. He said allies and partners are united in supporting Ukraine, providing economic and defense support," he stressed.

In his address to the nation this morning, PM Boris Johnson condemned Russia for the violence in Ukraine.

"Innumerable missiles and bombs have rained down on completely innocent people. A massive invasion is under way, by land, sea and air," said PM Johnson.

The prime minister said a massive sanctions package had been created to cripple Russia's economy and promised to reduce dependence on Russian oil and gas.

"Our mission is clear. Diplomatically, politically, economically and ultimately militarily, this horrific and barbaric endeavor of Vladimir Putin must end in failure," he stressed.
