This is the Reason Why Rafale and Eurofighter Have Low Operational Costs Compared to F-15 EX and Su-35

The Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon are two fighter jets originating in Europe. The Rafale was developed by French aerospace company Dassault Aviation.

Meanwhile, the Typhoon is made by a consortium consisting of Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo. Both of these fighters are both fourth-generation fighters that are quite sold in the global market.

Even, the two have their own differences and similarities. The most notable difference between the Rafale and eurofighter is that the engine design built with France's Snecma M88 turbofan produces far less thrust of just 75kN with an afterburner.

Meanwhile, the UK EJ200 engine that powers the Eurofighter can dispense 30 per cent more at 90kN.

The Rafale can also fly at a climbing speed of about 300 m/s, a maximum speed of Mach 1.8, and a very low altitude below 16 km.

The Eurofighter, however, has a very high flight performance for its weight range that can only be contrasted by the Russian MiG-29/35, with a climbing speed of 320 m/s, a maximum speed above Mach 2, and a service altitude approaching 20km.

The most interesting of these two fighters is their fairly low operational costs.

In fact, it is known that it is cheaper than high-performance heavyweight jets such as the United States F-15EX or Su-35 Russia. Quoted from dassault-aviation.com, the Rafale maintenance concept is claimed to be far affordable.

Rafale fuselage and engines no longer require time-consuming and expensive periodic depot-level inspections.

With more than 3,300 flight hours recorded by the Rafale "fleet leader," no structural parts have been altered, proving the robustness of the fuselage, and the cost of the maintenance concept.

On the other hand, quoted from airliners.net, the Italian-owned Eurofighter is known to cost 60-65,000 € (US $ 79,700) per hour, including financing and elimination.

The actual variable operating costs are between 13,000 and 20,000€ per hour.

This shows that both European fighters have an advantage over the F-15EX or Su-35 because of their much cheaper operational costs.
