Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly will travel to visit Kylv. The visit
was made to reaffirm its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and step up
efforts to prevent Russia's "aggressive actions".
Moscow, which has more than 100,000 troops, is stationed near its border
with Ukraine. Meanwhile, the United States on Friday, January 14, 2022, said
it was concerned that Russia had prepared a pretext to attack if diplomacy
failed to achieve its goals.
Canada with its sizeable ethnic Ukrainian population and political influence
has taken a tough stance against Moscow since its annexation of Crimea in
2014.

Joly will meet Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal and travel to Western
Canada to speak to the 200 Canadian training missions that have been taking
place there since 2015.
Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 440 individuals and annexed Kremie
entities. "Canada is working with international partners to maintain a
rules-based international order," he added.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelenskiy on Tuesday and an attack on Ukraine would have serious
consequences including coordinated sanctions," the Trudeau Official said.
Joly, who embarks on a week-long trip to Europe on Sunday, will travel to
Brussels to meet NATO Secretary-General Jens Stolenerg and head of policy
for the European Union's foreign minister, Joosep Borrell.
He will also travel to Paris to speak with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves
Le Drian, he said.
