Russia is ready to instantly launch a strike, including 170 cruise missiles
on the ukrainian military, military airfields and bases.
We are talking only
about the first wave of attack which should either make Kiev think about
stopping the escalation or lead to a subsequent wave of attack. This is how
Kiev evaluates Russia's actions.
For obvious reasons the air defense systems of the armed forces of Ukraine
will not be able to repel such a strike even if all the air defense-missile
defense systems in service with key of impossible attack areas are used.
It is quite obvious that not only ground systems will be involved in the
strikes, but also combat aircraft as well as more than likely, warships and
submarines. This indicates that it will be simply impossible to repel an
attack from three directions at once.
Obviously it began to dawn on Kiev that Russia does not intend to put up
with threats against itself. One warning will be more than enough to make
the strikes against the armed forces justified, the expert marks.
Today, according to various estimates there is a russian army of 126,000
people only near the ukrainian border, however the russian side has
repeatedly assured that an attack on ukraine is not planned, provided that Kiev does not create pretexts for this however even otherwise actions aimed
only at protecting russian citizens in the Donbas will be taken.
With tens of thousands of russian troops positioned near ukraine, the
Kremlin has kept the us and its allies guessing about its next moves in the
worst security crisis to emerge between moscow and the west since the cold
war.
Amid fears of an imminent attack on ukraine, russia has further up the ante
by announcing more military drills in the region. It also has refused to
rule out the possibility of military deployments to the Caribbean and
President Vladimir Putin has reached out to leaders opposed to the west.
According to ukrainian intelligence russia has soldiers, tanks artillery and
armored vehicles in positions on ukraine's northern, eastern and southern
borders. Russian forces to the east of ukraine are gathering near the danbas
region. A predominantly russian-speaking part of Ukraine where Moscow-backed
separatists have been fighting the ukrainian military since 2014.
Russia says it wants to stop nato from expanding into ukraine. The Kremlin
has called for a guarantee that nato won't expand eastward into areas that
russia considers part of its sphere of influence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also has called on the US to remove its
nuclear weapons from Europe and for Western Allied countries to stop
rotating their troops through several nations in eastern Europe.
Putin has
accused the west of taking an aggressive course on the threshold of our
home.
Giving into those demands would effectively restore a cold war era division
of power in europe with russia expanding its fear of influence further west.
NATO officials who represent 30 nations in Europe and North America have
flatly rejected Putin's demands.
Russia now appears to be threatening military action as a way to break that
stalemate.
Meanwhile the russian ministry of foreign affairs demanded that
NATO and the united states withdraw troops from the territory of Romania and
bulgaria this is one of the important points of the agreement on providing
security guarantees to russia.
For obvious reasons, the countries of the north atlantic alliance will not
take such actions, since Bulgaria and Romania are already members of nato
and the withdrawal of troops from the territory of these states cannot
actually be carried out. Such demands obviously did not satisfy nato and the
United States.
In this regard further negotiations on providing security guarantees to
russia turned out to be frustrating. Nevertheless, the russian side intends
to ensure its own security on its own if nato and the united states sabotage
negotiations with the russian side. For example by deploying troops on the
territory of neighboring belarus, deploying missile weapons on the border of
western countries etc.
Meanwhile the spanish minister of defense ordered the transfer of fighter
jets to Bulgaria to fight Russia.
The head of the spanish defense department
margarita Robles announced that spanish fighter jets would be deployed on
the territory of Ukraine's neighboring countries and in the countries of
southern and eastern europe, which would be used to strike at Russia in the
event of an armed conflict in ukraine.
Prior to this, Roble sent two spanish warships to the black sea the patrol
ship Meteoro-Class and the ESPS Frigate Blas de Lezo.
Spain proposes to prevent a possible russian invasion of ukraine. in
particular the deployment of fighters in Bulgaria was considered as part of
the plan that nato is preparing in eastern europe, according to the
huffington post.
Moreover in spain they report their readiness to take much more serious
measures as announced by the country's foreign ministry. Although at the
same time they did not specify any details.
NATO clearly intends to go for a very serious escalation with russia since
almost every day, not even warnings but open threats are heard against
moscow. This is probably one of the reasons why NATO refused to comply with
russia's demands and provide her with security guarantees.
