As reported by the Russian internet
edition AVIA, a Russian submarine has
successfully entered the area where the
american carrier strike group is based.
According to the reports the crew of a Russian submarine was able to fish out
an american carrier strike group off the
coast of Italy, which created an
extremely tense situation for the United States. It is known that after the
discovery of a russian diesel electric
submarine only on the third day, patrol
anti-submarine aircraft and special
vessels capable of tracking submarines
were quickly deployed to the area
however apparently, the russian submarine
was again lost.
As follows from the information provided
the Russian submarine was located
between Malta and Sicily, in the area of
the approximate location of the u.s navy
aircraft carrier strike group led by the USS Harry Truman Aircraft Carrier. Given the fact that the russian
submarine was in the same area a day ago
experts expressed the opinion that the
crew of the russian submarine, which
possesses a sufficient amount of weapons
capable of destroying half of the
american carrier strike group was
tracking the aircraft carrier strike
group, including through the execution
intelligence gathering, especially
against the backdrop of the recent u.s
announcement that the carrier strike
group will be ready to cover Ukraine in
the event of an allegedly planned Russian invasion of Donbass.
However aside from russian media reports
up until now there has been no official
comment either from the russian side or
american authority about the incident.
Defense secretary Lloyd Austin has
ordered a navy aircraft carrier strike
group to stay in the mediterranean sea
region rather than move on to the middle
east, amid worries about the build-up of
thousands of Russian troops near the Ukraine border.
A defense official who spoke on
condition of anonymity to Navytime.com
said that the change in the schedule of
the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman and
the five american warships accompanying
it, reflects the need for a persistent
presence in europe. It is necessary in
order to reassure US Allies and
partners in the region, the official said.
The U.S and western allies have watched
as the build-up of russian troops near
the border grew to a peak of an
estimated more than 100,000 fueling
fears that Moscow was preparing to
invade Ukraine.
Russia annexed Ukraine's premier Peninsula in 2014 and shortly after
through its support behind a separatist
rebellion in the country's east. Over more than seven years, the fighting
has killed over 14,000 people and
devastated Ukraine's industrial
heartland, known as the Danvis.
Russia has denied any intention of
launching a new invasion and instead has
accused ukraine of hatching plans to try
to use force to reclaim control of the
territories held by Moscow-backed rebels. Ukraine has rejected that claim.
According to Navytimes.com, the truman strike group includes five
u.s ships the Cruiser San Jacinto and
the guided missile destroyers cold, cambridge, Gravely and Jason Dunham. Also
with them is the Royal Norwegian Navy Frigate named Fridttjov Nansen. Truman left its homeport of Norfolk, Virginia on december 1st and entered the
mediterranean sea on december 14th. It had been scheduled to continue on
into the gulf region.
Alarmed by Russia's military buildup
along ukraine's border, the western
military alliance has been seeking a
meeting of the NATO-Russia council for
months but the forum seemed in Jeopardy
after an espionage dispute in october.
According to reuters the meeting of the
council, a format used for dialogue since
2002 will take place in brussels on
january 12th after U.S and Russian
officials hold security talks on january
10th in Geneva.
The European Union top diplomat Joseph Burrell flew to Ukraine on tuesday for a
two-day trip to show support for Kiev, which aspires to join the block in NATO. Many Russian experts allege that the
change in the schedule of the aircraft
carrier Harry S. Truman was caused by the
alliance's plan to send ships into the
black sea.
Greekreporter.com reported that the
massive naval aircraft carrier uss harry
s truman has docked at Souda Bay freed
