According to max defense a variant of
psi rs 72 not the corvette class was
offered to fulfill the philippine navy's
needs in its multi-purpose patrol vessel
project. max defense added that the proposal by
israel shipyards was submitted
personally to president Rodrigo Duterte
and national defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana several weeks ago. its weapons and radar fit were
reportedly based on the specs provided
by the pn but has the option to be
improved and upharm depending on the
pn's decision, max defense said.
Max defense also noted that president
duterte recently followed up on the
offers made by israeli firms wherein he
verbally approved for implementation and
would like to see them delivered as soon
as possible. Philippine navy multipurpose patrol
vessel project according to max
defense's blog was created to replace
the Literal Patrol Interdiction Craft (LPIC) project in Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program
horizon 2 phase which will be starting
2018 until 2022. Quantity of philippine navy multipurpose
patrol vessels will be around six to
nine.

defense analyst and a former naval
reservist officer in the philippine navy. A social networking page in sight are
being maintained at facebook.com
maxdefense and maxdefense.blogspot.com
respectively. Exclusive at max defense this is the Computer Generated Image (CGI) of the Saw-ARS-72 shared exclusively to max defense.
Rhe variant being offered to the
philippine navy is not the corvette
version but is to fulfill a requirement
for multipurpose patrol vessels as
previously discussed in our latest blog
last month. This CGI was said to taken directly from
the offer made by israel shipyards
submitted personally to president Rodrigo Duterte and defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana several weeks
ago. Its weapons and radar fit were
reportedly based on the specs provided
by the pn but has the option to be
improved and up harm depending on the
pn's decision.
According to our latest information
president duterte this week personally
made a follow-up of all the israeli
offers presented to him last august, wherein he verbally approved for
implementation and would like to see
them delivered as soon as possible. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is
integrating external link barak MX interceptors on the navy's psi R-6
corvettes. IAI's Barack MX interceptors along with
iai's complete naval combat suite will
provide advanced defense systems to the SCIR-6 Corvettes.
The systems will be used to protect
israel's exclusive economic zone and
strategic facilities that face
diversified threats in the marine arena. The Barak MX system was chosen after it
was demonstrated to meet the operational
requirements and future challenges faced
by the israeli navy.
The one 227T slash
1350 Tonsai R5 Ilat Class Corvette's
external link were built by northrop
grumman in the 1990s for about 260
million dollars each. it's a decent performer in a number of
roles from air defense to anti-submarine
work to coastal patrol and special
forces support. In 2006 the israelis went looking for a
next generation vessel with better
high-end capabilities. Six years later israel had nothing to
show for its search.
In the meantime massive natural gas
deposits have been discovered within
israel's coastal waters adding
considerable urgency to their search. The usa is israel's logical supplier but
given israel's size and cost
requirements the only american option
was the literal combat ship. Israel pursued that option for several
years conducting studies and trying to
get a better sense of feasibility and
costs.
Mheir approach would have been very
different from the american freedom
class LCS removing the swappable mission
modules and replacing them with a fixed
and fully capable set of air defense, anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons. In the end however the project was
deemed to be unaffordable. Instead israel began negotiating with
germany and reports now include
discussions involving both south korea
and a local shipyard.
