US strategic command claims the
deployment is to demonstrate its
commitment to defending America's Allies
in the region.
A group of u.s air force B-52
stratofortresses, airmen and support
equipment from minot air force base North Dakota are deployed to the
indo-pacific region in support of the
air force pacific bomber task force, strategic command said in a statement.

According to US strategic command a
group of B-52 bombers will be stationed
at anderson air force base in Guam. The air force did not disclose the
number of B-52 sent to Guam. 4 B-52 stratofortress bombers
deployed there in april from Barksdale Air Force Base La.
The bombers will participate in joint
maneuvers with the australian defense
forces during the 2021 talisman saber
war games, which are expected to
strengthen collective capabilities to
support a free and open indo-pacific, the U.S strategic command said in a
statement.
About 4,000 u.s personnel are directly
participating in forager, the army said.
Training scenarios include an 82nd
airborne operation a bilateral airborne
operation with the Japan ground
self-defense force and first special
forces group, a live fire exercise with
apache attack helicopters and
multi-domain operations involving the
transport over land, air and sea of
strikers. The avengers surface-to-air
missile system and high-mobility
artillery rocket systems, the army said.
Talisman Saber 21 allows us to
dynamically employ forces to the pacific
to practice our response to a full range
of security concerns in support of our
regional alliances and international
agreements across all domains, land, air, sea, space and cyber, General Xavier Brunson Commander of
first corps said in the news release.
As previously noted the US is
increasingly concerned about China's
growing military power in the
indo-pacific region and is reported to
have increased its presence in the
region. It was reported in june that the Pentagon was considering deploying a
permanent navy task force in the Pacific Ocean.
The tiny us territory of Guam which lies 4,000 miles west of Hawaii and 2,500 miles
east of the Philippines is of growing
strategic importance to the american
military as it grapples with China's
expansion in the region.
The island's anderson air force base
routinely hosts deploying bombers, which
are used to project u.s air power
throughout the indo-pacific with an eye
toward China, Russia and North Korea.
