One of the munitions markets that cannot be ruled out is sniper rifle munitions in the 7.62 x 51 mm NATO caliber which are widely used in the TNI and Polri units. Based on this need, PT Pindad on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, conducted a product certification test for the MU2-M A1 and MU2-M A2 caliber 7.62 x 51 mm 175 grains HPBT at the Dislitbangad Lab & Shooting Range of the Indonesian Army Military Command and Training Center, Batujajar, West Bandung Regency.

Quoted from the Twitter account @pindad, it was stated that the test activity was carried out in the context of testing and certifying PT Pindad's innovative munitions products, MU2-M A1 and MU2 in accordance with the benchmarks for the type requirements that have been determined and in the future being able to meet the needs of munitions for all types of sniper weapons. The MU2-M A1 ammunition is less than 0.60 mm long and weighs approximately 1 gram. The length of the bullet is less than 0.60 mm and the weight of the bullet is 0.06 grams. Meanwhile, the MU2-M A2 munition is less than 0.60 mm long and weighs approximately 1 gram. Meanwhile, the length of the bullet is less than 0.65 mm and the weight of the bullet is less than 0.06 gram with the Hollow Point Boat Tail (HPBT) type of shell.

In the first session, the shooting test was carried out indoors with a shooting range of 100 meters. Meanwhile, the second session was conducted in an open area with a distance of 900 meters. "Earlier, we have tried it and the results are that within a shooting range of 100 and 900 meters, we meet the requirements according to the charges," said Head of Dislitbangad Brigadier General Terry Tresna Purnama at the location.

Laboratory testing activities include testing of weight and dimensions, type of booster and booster sensitivity, type and class of thrust loading, tensile strength of bullets, shell cracks/defects, signs of munitions as well as packaging and bags of munitions. The field test was a test of the MU2-M A1 and MU2-M A2 munitions products by firing them using the Pindad SPR-3 sniper weapon product.

Field testing activities included testing of bullet speed, bullet speed range, accuracy of fire, average gas pressure, penetrating power of steel plate and smooth working under normal and special conditions (water resistance and resistance to low and high temperatures).

To test the accuracy of shooting with a shooting distance of 100 meters and 300 ether, it is located in the shooting tunnel of the Dislitbangad Laboratory. Meanwhile, the shooting distances of 600 meters and 900 meters are located at the Pussearmed Shooting Range of the Batujajar Kodiklatad.

Weighing 6.94 kg, this rifle with a barrel length of 660 mm can hit targets effectively at a distance of 700 meters, but if the sniper uses a 10×5 telescopic sight, the shooting range can be increased to 900 meters. At a firing range of 700 meters, the MU2-TJS projectile is capable of tearing 3 centimeters thick steel plate.
