The Arabia Terra region, which is north of Mars, has been dubbed the most
beautiful place by scientists from NASA and the University of Arizona.
Arabia Terra is NASA's favorite area to study because it has "Beautiful
Layers".
The phrase "beautiful layers" is used by scientists from NASA and the
University of Arizona to describe Martian features recorded by HiRISE
cameras. The camera, which orbits the Red Planet, has observed most of the
heavily cratered region of Arabia Terra.
This region is like much of the surface of Mars, but is also highly eroded,
and exposes many layers of the planet's crust.
In Arabia Terra, these layers have a great deal of "diversity and beauty".
"One of our favorite areas to capture," NASA said, quoted from the
autoevolution page, Tuesday (25/1/2022).
The main photo of this section shows some beautiful layers, as seen by the
HiRISE camera in August 2020 from an altitude of 271 km (168 km).
"These products can help us measure deposit thickness," NASA said.
The layer may have been formed by groundwater rising to store minerals and
cement sediments. To date, HiRISE cameras have sent back tens of thousands
of images of Mars, but scientists still don't understand Mars in detail.
